New certifications are now available via SOLE - The International Society of Logistics. There are three certifications in the "Demonstrated Logistician" series - Demonstrated Logistician (DL), the Demonstrated Senior Logistician (DSL) and the Demonstrated Master Logistician (DML). The Certified Master Logistician (CML) is also now described. See link at left. :::::: End

References for logisticians working on both DoD and non-DoD systems:

"RMS Reliability, Maintainability and Supportability Guidebook", 3rd Edition, SAE International RMS Committee (G-11). (578 pages). 1995. Soft cover. This was written for mobile (ground) vehicles with a common language covering both military and commercial practices. It is organized by phase of life cycle. It is highly referenced with DoD references.
- "Reliability and Maintainability Guideline for Manufacturing Machinery and Equipment" Second Edition, M-110.2 (88 pages). 1999. Soft cover. This is written in the phases of the life cycle and includes check lists of things needed listed during design/manufacture/support for commercial industrial/production equipment.
- "Defense Logistics for the 21st Century" by William G. T. Tuttle, Jr., Gen. US Army (Ret.), Naval Institute Press, 2005 (355 pages). This book covers the lessons learned in recent years on supporting and sustaining forward deployed military forces. Major sections promote the idea of re-assessing current product support processes and recommend changes to traditional DoD product support process and increased contractor support including performance based logistics (PBL) support contracts.

The Army has released the latest update to their Cost Analysis Strategic Assessment (CASA) Life Cycle Cost Model now at version 8. Refer to CASA 8

The "Quantitative Measures of Logistics" book has been accepted by a major publisher for publication and distribution. It will be available as a part of a logistics series. We look forward to that addition to the logistics library. :::::: End

A revision to the "Quantitative Measures of Logistics" book and accompanying CD-ROM is in the final stages of release. Inquire at SOLE headquarters for the "2nd Edition". The author, Phil Frohne, CPL, Boeing, St. Louis, indicates significant improvements have been made.
Added a link to the "Logistics Tools" web site for those working in the commerical sector. This link has a 500+ word dictionary of business logistics terms. :::::: End

This resource consists of a book/CD of the same title which is available from SOLE (web site link to the left, (e)solehq@erols.com).
